Proverbs 24:5-6 A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Having taught that wisdom builds and establishes a household (vv. 3-4), Scripture now shows another benefit of wisdom: it gives true strength.
The world often measures strength by physical ability, wealth, influence, military power, or social status. Scripture, however, teaches that the greatest strength is not found in muscles or might but in wisdom that comes from God.
A wise person may not be the strongest physically, yet through wisdom he is often far more capable of overcoming life’s challenges than one who relies solely on physical power.
Wisdom enables a person to make sound decisions, avoid unnecessary dangers, solve difficult problems, lead others effectively, and persevere through adversity.
Physical strength eventually declines with age, but godly wisdom continues to grow throughout life.
