Shining Light… Darkness

‘But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.’ This is the 4th prophecy in Proverbs (4:18) being fulfilled.

‘The path of the just.’ Proverbs 4:14-17, verse 19 shows the gloomy, dark, and violent path of the unjust. In verse 18 the bright and luminous path of the just is revealed. This verse is proof that at death the righteous one does not go into a dormant, unconscious state until the resurrection, but his path gets brighter and brighter until he emerges into the full blaze of endless glory (Col. 3:4). Even the wicked continue in consciousness after death (Luke 16:19-31; Isa. 14:9).

Five examples of increasing light to people: Jacob (Gen. 32:24-32; 49:10, 18); Nathaniel (John 1:46-51); Eunuch (Acts 8:27-39); Cornelius (Acts 10:1-48); All Christians (Acts 26:18).

‘The way of the wicked is as darkness.’ Sinners have no way of seeing what lies ahead in their everyday life, except in some small way by their own experience, but they don’t have the light of God (6:23; Ps. 119:105 – His Word) to guide them on their ways and show them the stumbling blocks and they mostly don’t take others advice kindly (9:7-9). Five examples of darkness in the way of the wicked: Korah (Num. 16:16-19); Ahab (1Kin. 16:31); Babylon (Isa. 47:11); Jews (Jer. 5:19, 25; 44:15-23); Gentile world (Rom. 1:21-32).
