Proverbs 23:24-25 The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

His greatest earthly reward is not applause but knowing his life honours those who raised him. [17] He seeks knowledge continually (18:15). His desire to learn never ceases because he understands that wisdom is a lifelong pursuit. [18]. He lives soberly and exercises self-control (20:1). He refuses to be mastered by alcohol, pleasure, or any appetite that clouds judgment. [19] He solves difficult problems (21:22). Wisdom enables him to overcome obstacles through careful planning, discernment, and dependence upon God. [20] He continually grows stronger (24:5). His strength is not merely physical but includes wisdom, character, perseverance, and spiritual maturity. [21] He keeps God’s law (28:7). Obedience is the evidence of genuine wisdom and love for God. [22] He turns away from contention (29:8). Rather than stirring conflict, he seeks peace, reconciliation, and wise counsel. [23] He controls himself during conflict (29:11). He governs his emotions instead of allowing anger to govern him. Self-control reflects spiritual maturity and earns the respect of others.
Proverbs 23:24-25 reminds us that true success is measured not by wealth, status, or achievement, but by righteousness and wisdom. A child who fears the Lord, walks in truth, and lives with integrity becomes a lasting source of joy to his parents and a testimony to God’s grace.
The twenty-three characteristics of a wise son reveal that wisdom is not a single quality but a way of life. It is seen in teachability, diligence, self-control, godly relationships, wise speech, obedience to God’s Word, and a heart devoted to righteousness. Such a life not only brings joy to earthly parents but also pleases our heavenly Father, who delights in those who walk in His truth.
